BLOCKING

FOR

LEARNERS

ADVANCED

A lesson in combining hues at the expert level.

The ole 2011 color blocking trend is back and wayyy better. Rather than a two-tone skirt or blocked out dress, this modernized take incorporates the whole look and sometimes the surroundings too.

With every item a different color, the only neccessary materials are a wardrobe of solids and an eye for layering, or at the very minimum a fearlessness for it.

The trend plays seamlessly into the instagram-age and has influencers and followers alike calling solids rather than stripes. A monochromatic or contrasting background is the new street art and can add another instrument to your multi-colored symphony of an outfit.

Although seen on the SS19 runways of Off-White, Marni, Escada and many more, this look can also be executed by the common folk from the comfort of their suburban closets. Everyone has a set of congealed clothing that needs a fresh and exciting new friend group to hang with.

Some of the most viral combinations include red and rose, lavender and baby pink, red and royal purple, and even mossy green and purple (somehow no longer associated with Barney).

Take on this challenge to look like a fashion expert, or at least the miscellaneous explore page influencer, and reinvigorate the forgotten solid cardigan in the back of your closet.
